Sofas

The next room displays sofas from the 19th century. A sofa carved from walnut wood (1876) was produced to be a wedding gift for Ida Badányi and Koloman Mariásyi and is situated on the right side. Coats-of-arms of both families are depicted on the front of each piece and are decorated with five-pointed crown representing the baronship title. Baroque and Renaissance elements dominate this sofa set produced in eclectic style. Next to it there is a children portrait of Eleanor Badanyi (painted by V.Forberger, 1884).

Opposite there is a Biedermeier sofa (cca 1835). You can see the portraits of Amanda and Julius Demian (painted by Karol Tibelly, 1843) above the sofa. Julius Demianyi became famous by founding the 1st bank in the Spiš area; moreover, P.O.Hviezdoslav (national famous writer) eked out salary with tutoring Demianyi´s children while studying at Kežmarok Lyceum. Both carpets were produced in French Aubusson Manufactory in the half 19th century.

There is a showcase with chinaware situated between the windows. The top and the bottom of the showcase display Czech porcelain from the Biedermeier period; the middle part of the showcase represents Italian porcelain from the late 19th century. Above the portrait there is an oval portrait (cca 1840) depicting a famous Spiš beauty, Klementína Görgey, nee Badanyi.
