9. Bedroom

A bedroom of today's type was not known in our area until the 18th century. In addition to the double beds, there was mainly storage furniture for lingerie and clothes. Its development continued from the chests through chests of drawers and drawers, to one or two-door cabinets. Beds of today's type started to be produced in the 19th century as sets with wardrobes, bedside tables, dressing tables and mirrors or other accessories.

The exhibited bedroom set from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries is in the Neo-Baroque-art nouveau style. Under the bed there is an Art Nouveau ceramic potty for adults. Left to the door you can find a portable toilet from the mid-19th century. On the pedestal there are copper bed warmers from the 17th and 18th centuries, in which embers or hot water were placed. Before going to bed, duvets and pillows quickly warmed up in the cold winter season.

On the right theere is an Art Nouveau ceramic toilet set made in the Zsolnay manufactory in Pécs. Above it there is a pair of photographs depicting Julius Demiany at an older age and his second wife, Berta (around 1875).

The chandelier comes from the late Art Nouveau (1915 to 1920). An example of period toys is the furniture - sideboard, wardrobe and chest of drawers or a set of blocks made of artificial stone from the beginning of the 20th century.

Thank you for visiting. We hope you will come back again.
